If you are interested in a low carbon holiday, the connection for example from and to London is very good:

Over night train from London Euston to Glasgow Central leaves at 23.50h and arrives at 7.18am.

Beautiful train journey from Glasgow Queenstreet to Oban leaves at 8.21am and arrives at 11.27am.

This train connects directly with the Ferry that leaves Oban at 12 o'clock, arrival on Mull 12.46pm.

Buses await ferry arrival.

Return journey

Leaving Mull with the Ferry 17.00hrs arriving in Oban at 17.46hrs, connects with the train

Oban to Glasgow Queenstreet that leaves at 18.11hrs and arrives at 21.19hrs.

Glasgow Central to London Euston leaves at 23.40h and arrives at 6.47am.
